Leading WA owner Bob Peters has confirmed superstar mare Arcadia Queen will be retired following her latest injury.
Arcadia Queen was ruled out of last Saturday’s Group 2 Emancipation Stakes at Rosehill with a tendon injury, also ending her hopes of taking part in The Championships.
Peters said the five-year-old mare’s racing career was over.
“I’ve made the decision on her career, I don’t think she’ll be ever racing again,” Peters told TAB Radio on Tuesday.
“As far as what we do going forward, whether I keep her and breed with her myself or whether I sell her I’m not sure what I’ll do.
“If she was a year or two younger, I would probably think about rehabilitating her.”
Arcadia Queen was scratched from the All-Star Mile last month on the morning of the race because of a hoof issue.
She had just the one run this campaign – a second in the Futurity Stakes behind Probabeel.
Arcadia Queen won eight of her 16 starts, including the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes and Mackinnon Stakes last spring and the Kingston Town Classic at Ascot as a three-year-old in 2018.
