Police bust Mercedes C63 AMG LMCT+ raffle winner after burnout fail

[ad_1]

Police have charged a man with dangerous and negligent driving after he was busted on camera attempting a burnout that destroyed his car.

NSW Police said a Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupe was destroyed after the vehicle caught fire during “an alleged attempted burnout” in western Sydney.

Video from the scene shows the driver attempting to spin the car’s wheels several times before smoke and flames erupt from the engine bay.

Images published widely on social media revealed catastrophic damage to the luxury car, which costs about $185,000 drive-away.

The 25-year-old man appears to have won the V8-powered coupe in a popular online raffle giving customers the chance to win supercars for a fraction of their price.

Automotive raffle company LMCT+ handed the keys to an identical black Mercedes with custom gold wheels to a 25-year-old Sydney man in May last year.

The company holds supercar lotteries for high-end cars such as the McLaren 720S, Ferrari 488 GTB and Nissan GT-R.

It is currently offering $30 tickets for the chance to win a second Mercedes-AMG GT R valued at $220,000.

The company claims to have more than 100,000 members and rose to prominence after sponsoring a Holden Commodore in the 2020 Bathurst 1000.
