Four men have been charged following the alleged rape of two teenage girls in a Brisbane park. There are concerns 10 men in total could have been involved in the horrific attack.
Police allege the rapes took place in Calamvale, in the city’s south, on 28 December.
The Courier Mail reported the two 15-year-old girls met up with two of the men at a railway station with the intention to drink and smoke cannabis. They then travelled to Karawatha quarry where another eight men are alleged to have turned up.
Police have alleged the two girls were then repeatedly sexually assaulted at Calamvale District Park.
“Those acts of rape I understand occurred at a park in Calamvale district after the two children had asked to be taken home,” Police prosecutor Peri Cardiff told the newspaper.
A 19 year-old, man from Woodbridge, just to the east of Calamvale, and a 20-year-old man from Hillcrest, also close by, were charged yesterday with 40 offences each including rape, indecent treatment of a child under 16, stupefying in order to commit indictable offence, taking child for immoral purposes and assault with intent to commit rape.
Both men appeared at Brisbane Magistrates Court today with the 19-year-old remanded in custody until February 1 and the 20-year-old remanded until February 22.
A further two men aged 22 and 21 from Acacia Ridge and Runcorn, in Brisbane’s southern suburbs, have also been charged with 40 offences each and are due to appear in Richlands Magistrates Court on February 1.
