Actor Bert Belasco’s cause of death while in hotel quarantine last November has finally been revealed.
The US star, 38, was found dead inside a hotel room in Richmond, Virginia, where he was in the middle of a two-week coronavirus hotel quarantine, a requirement before he was due to start work on a new film.
A coroner has now confirmed to Fox News that Belasco died of “hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease,” with his manner of death listed as natural.

TMZ reports that Belsaco’s family went into more detail about the cause of his death, explaining that he died suddenly after suffering an aortic aneurysm – “a bulge in the artery that carries blood from the heart through the chest and torso” – that had stemmed from his high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease.
TMZ earlier reported that concerns were raised when Belasco’s girlfriend couldn’t get hold of him and asked hotel staff to check up on him. ABC 8 News reported that Henrico Police Department responded to a hotel for a medical emergency and that when first responders arrived, Belsaco was pronounced dead at the scene.
Best known for his starring role in the US sitcom Let’s Stay Together, Belasco also had roles in I’m Dying Up Here, The Mick, Pitch, Key And Peele and Justified, among a long list of on-screen credits.
At the time, Belasco’s friend, fellow actor Yvette Nicole Brown, led the tributes, saying she was “gutted” by the news and had only just spoken to him.
“Bert was my friend! We had JUST talked last week. He was happy and excited about his new project and all the good that was to come,” she wrote.
Actress Jackee Harry called Belasco “a talented, kind young man who I had the pleasuring of working with numerous times”.
