A McDonald’s worker has lifted the lid on secrets within the fast food chain – including whether staff ever spit in your food.
TikTok user @jodessy, from the US, has made a series of videos sharing what she learned as a staffer at the fast food chain.
Thankfully for those wondering if their meal has ever had a nasty present included, Dessy Joseph said the “probability is so low”.
“Actually they make the coffee in view of the customer,” she said.
“In fact the probability that your food is ever spat in in McDonald’s is so low because you piss off the cashier. The cashier never really touches your food.
“The cooks in the back don’t know that you are rude.
“And they make all the drinks really in front of you.”
Many people were extremely relieved by Dessy’s video, with one saying: “I’m glad to know.”
Another staff member chimed in: “Worked for McDonald’s for 15 years and never, ever, ever had a crew member spit in someone’s food.”
Dessy also spoke about whether staff get to take food home after their shift.
“When I worked at McDonald’s we were never really allowed to take food home, the only thing we’d get was our employee meal,” she said.
Dessy also revealed the time to get the freshest food was during the lunchtime rush, as “because of high demand it is when you get the freshest food”.
And another way to get a fresh meal is to take an item off the burger, so they have to make it bespoke and not just use one that has already been made.

“Why sometimes this happens is because the shake machine will pour out a little bit of the previous flavour before it pours the new flavour,” she said.
“So sometimes you’ll order a vanilla shake and you’ll see the bottom is a little green because it’s Shamrock shake season, or maybe it’s a little brown, or your chocolate shake tastes a little like strawberry.
“Strawberry shake tastes like a little chocolate? It’s just leftover syrup from the drink before.”
Dessy continues by urging those with allergies to any of the flavours to mention it before ordering the drink, so staff can ensure the syrups don’t get mixed up.
