[ad_1]

Police allegedly found meth, stolen number plates and two knives after a high-speed pursuit of woman who had been slapped with a driver ban.

The woman, 26, faces a string of driving, drug and weapons offences following the chase in New South Wales’ Riverina region that ended with her crashing her car into a guard rail.

Police will allege officers were patrolling the Olympic Highway near Wallendbeen on Friday night after received reports of a Mazda 3 driving erratically in the area.

About 7pm police allege the silver Mazda was spotted driving above the 60km/h speed limit and highway patrol officers attempted to pull the vehicle over.

“A pursuit was initiated after the Mazda allegedly failed to stop when indicated and accelerated away from police,” NSW Police said in a statement.

A short time later the Mazda crashed into a guard rail.

The woman, who was the sole occupant of the Mazda, was allegedly disqualified from driving until February 2022, police checks revealed.

A search of the car uncovered a pair of stolen NSW registration plates, two knives, a quantity of the drug ice and other drug paraphernalia.

The woman was taken to Cootamundra Base Hospital for blood and urine tests before being taken to the local police station.

She was charged with not stopping and dangerous driving during a police pursuit, driving under the influence of drugs, having stolen goods in personal custody, possessing a prohibited drug and two counts of custody of a knife in public.

She was also charged with driving disqualified and driving recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous.

The woman, from Young, was bailed to appear before Cootamundra Local Court on May 3.
