Wayne Bennett wasn’t fooling anyone in his post match press conference after he said he just felt relief after the Rabbitohs got out of jail in one of the craziest endings to an NRL game ever.
An Adam Reynolds two-point field goal sent it to extra time at 14-14 and Tom Burgess iced the win with a golden point try, but only after Luke Brooks scored at the other end of the field off the same play and that wasn’t even the half of it.
However Bennett had a typical understated reaction to his side’s fifth straight win that catapulted them to second on the ladder.

“Wayne 869 games but not too many like that, what is going through your mind after that,” Matt Russell asked Bennett post match.
“Oh just a bit of relief,” Bennett replied.
“Just relief after one of the most amazing games in years?” Russell persisted.
“Yeah just relief,” Bennett said with a slight gasp.
“Wayne come on,” Yvonne Sampson said in response to Bennett’s succinct summation of his feelings after the match.
“We have got to get a pulse check on Wayne Bennett.”
However images of a roaring Bennett fist pumping and yelling in the changerooms showed Bennett’s true reaction that he rarely if ever gives the media.
“Here we go,” Sampson said.
“This is the real Wayne Bennett. Look at him.
“Not giving an inch away in his post match press conference but of course he is a very happy man.
“One of the best and one of the best games we have ever seen.”
“Turn that camera off,” Michael Ennis said mimicking Bennett as he spotted the camera following him.
“He has been on fire today.”
“That is exactly what he said,” Cooper Cronk added.
“He just got caught out.”
“Those damn cameras in the dressing rooms,” Mal Meninga said with a laugh.
