Teen trio allegedly hit cop vehicle in stolen car in Adelaide

[ad_1]

Three teens hit a cop car in a stolen vehicle in Adelaide before the driver who fled was spotted climbing into a bin, police allege.

A South Australia Police spokesperson alleged the stolen Toyota sedan was seen by patrolling cops just after midnight on Saturday, travelling east along Grand Junction Road at Rosewater.

A police helicopter followed the vehicle while patrols deployed road spikes in North Adelaide.

The driver hit a parked police vehicle as he attempted to avoid the spikes before driving off, police allege.

The driver left the road to avoid a second set of spikes and hit a street sign before running away, police allege.

The two passengers remained in the car and the driver was arrested a short distance away after he was seen climbing into an industrial bin, police allege.

All three occupants were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

An 18-year-old from Taperoo has been charged with illegal use and dangerous driving and refused bail to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.

A 19-year-old woman from Taperoo is expected to be charged later with illegal use while a 17-year-old boy, also from Taperoo, has been charged with illegal use and bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Youth Court on May 13.
