A fatal crash that killed two people on the Sunshine Coast on Easter Sunday may have been deliberate and a murder-suicide, police say.
While investigations continue into the single vehicle crash at Pacific Paradise, early reports suggest a car heading south along David Low Way at 7am left the road and collided with a tree.
The two occupants, a 69-year-old male driver and 68-year-old female passenger, were trapped inside the car for a period of time before they were able to be cut free and transported to hospital, where they later died.
Police said the pair were known to each other.
In a statement, Queensland Police said they were investigating “whether this is a deliberate act” by the driver.
It’s understood a suicide note was found in the vehicle and at a residence, indicating the crash may have been a murder-suicide.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them and would also like to speak to anyone who saw the car, a 2016 white Nissan Qashqai SUV, before the crash, as well as any motorists with relevant dashcam footage of the vehicle.
