An employee at a pub in Western Australia has shared a series of hilarious videos of a kangaroo who has been ‘working’ at the pub.

The John Forrest Tavern, in the outer eastern suburbs of Perth, is renowned as a country pub where revellers can interact with all sorts of Australian wildlife.

It is tucked away in the John Forrest National Park and locals, hikers and tourists frequently eat outside while feeding the visiting kangaroos and rosellas.

One of the regular kangaroos, named Matt, has been ‘employed’ by pub staffer Katelyn Hutton, who has filmed the roo hard at work.

In one clip that has gone viral on Tik Tok with more than six million views, the ‘roo is seen slowly hopping behind the bar, as Katie admonishes it.

“Look mate, I keep telling ya, you don’t work here – you can’t come through the bar,” she says.

“No – you – nah, don’t look at me like that, you can’t come behind the bar.”

In another, she is seen offering the kangaroo a job, before he hops away.

The muscular marsupial is then seen standing by the cash register as Katie criticises him for his poor work ethic and inability to pour a beer.

In the final video, believed to be filmed on the same day, Matt is given a formal warning.

“Alright buddy, good first day of work … but I don’t know if it’s going to last because you keep bringing in your girlfriends.”

Her seven videos of the scenic pub and its wildlife have attracted a total of 1.4 million likes.

The pub is popular with visitors, according to its Google reviews. “Just amazing! A spot in the middle ignite national park, fool with friendly kangaroos. The beer was really good and the staff even better. Enjoy nature while having a beer,” one user wrote.

“Great experience … Resident tame friendly Kangaroos sharing the shade on the verandah with us. No other pub I know of in Perth can match that,” another user wrote.
