Stephen Mowchanuk’s neighbour will face a Brisbane court on Tuesday charged with the Bracken Ridge man’s murder.
The 39-year-old was discovered dead in his home by his mother on Sunday, prompting police to launch a murder investigation.
Two crime scenes have been established in Bracken Ridge, including at Mr Mowchanuk’s house on Wobur St where police have allegedly discovered a large metal object.
A separate crime scene has been established at the home of the 28-year-old man, who was arrested on Monday.
Police confirmed in a statement the two men are believed to have been known to each other.
Mr Mowchanuk’s mother took to social media on Sunday night to pay tribute to her “harmless” son.
“He … only wanted to help people,” she wrote.
Ms Mowchanuk’s Facebook friends shared words of grief and disbelief, writing of their “devastation” as they expressed their condolences.
“He was a lovely man,” one wrote.
“I have such good memories of Stephen and the amazing things he did – it was a pleasure knowing Stephen,” another wrote.
Police continue to appeal for anyone who may have information in relation to the man’s death, or who may have seen anything suspicious around Wobur St between 12pm Saturday and 2am Sunday to contact police.
The alleged offender will front Brisbane Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, charged with one count of murder.
