A mum who copped flak over the “budget” lunch she made her daughters has taken to another Facebook group asking if the portion sizes are “substantial” enough.
The woman posted a photo online of the meals she’d made for her eight-year-old and nine-year-old girls for their lunch.
The picture showed there to be three triangle-shaped sandwiches on brown bread with a side of hot chips, carrot, capsicum and apple slices and three mini Kinder chocolates, all in their own compartments.
But, according to the mum, some slammed her over the meals, forcing her to seek advice elsewhere.

“OK … so I got told off in another group … apparently this isn’t a substantial lunch for a nine-year-old and eight-year-old,” she said, sharing the image to the Facebook group Feed Your Family on a Budget.
“It’s a budget lunch yes, but I thought it’s OK?”
More than 3500 people have ‘liked’ her post, reassuring her there is “nothing wrong” with her kids’ lunches.
“The only mothers to slam you for that lunch are jealous ones!” one parent wrote.
“Absolutely nothing wrong with it.”
“Yeah this is a perfectly acceptable lunch for a kid. My eight and nine-year-old would gobble this up in minutes,” another mum added, while a third wrote: “Nothing wrong with that. I would feed my kids this.”
Others were baffled to hear some parents had an issue with the meals.

“Hmmm please ignore whoever said that. Looks perfectly balanced,” one woman wrote.
“What on earth is wrong with that?” asked another.
It comes after another woman, in Perth, also copped heat over the “grown up” lunch box she made her four-year-old daughter.
The mum shared a snap of the bento-style lunch, revealing she sends her to school with a healthy meal made up of cheese and ham sandwiches alongside a mix of pistachios, seaweed crackers, pretzels, snow peas, almonds and whole grapes.

But fellow parents in the group were quick to judge the mum’s meal, declaring it “too grown up” as their four-year-olds only eat “chicken nuggets”.
“Just wait until you have teenagers and send them to school with a lunch box like this. How embarrassing mum,” one said.
While another questioned how a four-year-old is able to shell their own pistachios, insisting it was an inappropriate food choice for a child.
But after receiving a string of negative comments, the mum hit back with a photo of another lunch she had prepared for her child, insisting she would continue making her daughter healthy packed lunches.
“I would never expect that a lunch box could create that much controversy, criticism and conversation,” she wrote.
“I’m blown away and weirdly motivated to keep posting my bentos.”
