Joe Daniher goal, video, Western Bulldogs vs Brisbane Lions score

[ad_1]

Brisbane Lions recruit Joe Daniher stunned Ballarat’s footy fans with an “unbelievable” late goal during Saturday afternoon’s loss against the Western Bulldogs.

The Lions were trailing by 19 points late in the fourth quarter at Mars Stadium when Daniher chased down the footy just outside the 50m arc near the boundary line.

With Bulldogs medical substitute Patrick Lipinski chasing him down, the Brisbane forward had no choice but to kick the ball inside 50 on his non-preferred foot.

But remarkably, the dribbling Sherrin shaped perfectly towards the posts and bounced through for a miracle goal.

“Oh my goodness!” commentator Dwayne Russell cried on Fox Footy’s coverage.

“An accidental goal of the year contender.”

Daniher opted not to celebrate the feat, instead offering a sheepish apology.

Bulldogs great Brad Johnson continued: “That is unbelievable. I think he’s apologising for such a great effort.”

“That’s amazing, because he’s just put it to grass just to keep the ball in flow.”

The goal was the lone highlight in an otherwise disappointing performance for Daniher, who finished the match with eight disposals and one mark.

The Western Bulldogs remain undefeated in the 2021 premiership after recording their fourth consecutive victory — a 10.13 (73) to 8.6 (54) win over the Lions.

It’s the first time the club has been unbeaten after four games since 2008.

Tim English booted a game-high three goals for the Bulldogs, while teammate Jack Macrae registered 32 disposals.

Meanwhile, new recruit Adam Treloar starred in the midfield with a game-high 10 tackles and 29 disposals.

The Bulldogs will next face the Gold Coast Suns at Marvel Stadium, while Brisbane will finally return to Queensland and take on Essendon at the Gabba next weekend.
