North Queensland Cowboys hulk Jason Taumalolo has suffered a fresh injury blow, breaking his left hand at training.
While it might sound like he has rebroken the hand that has seen him play just one game this season, he broke his right hand at training after the first game of the season.

Taumalolo had been preparing to return to the field, being named last week before being a late scratching, while he appeared destined to return for the clash with the Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon.
Speaking to news.com.au earlier in the week, Taumalolo said he was hopeful of returning on the weekend.
But the Cowboys broke the news on their website, writing that Taumalolo “is facing a fresh stint on the sideline after fracturing the opposite hand to the one he injured in March.
“Taumalolo suffered the injury at training and is expected to be sidelined between 1-3 weeks.”
The NRL Physio Twitter account also posted that it had been a “crazy run of events” for the hulking star.
Taumalolo has been out of the Cowboys side since the round one thrashing by Penrith when new coach Todd Payten called out his biggest star.
“The last try was from Jase not putting pressure on him from marker,” he said. “They’re the efforts I’m talking about him improving that will make him the best forward in the game.
“That’s not just him but there are players in the middle of the park that need to move better and whether or not we give away possession like we did tonight, that’s a non-negotiable for.”
Earlier in the week, Taumalolo said he was still coming to terms with his new role at the Cowboys with Payten looking for Taumalolo to play less but more impactful minutes.
“When he was at the Warriors, we’d keep in contact so I’ve known him for a long time so our relationship is sweet,” Taumalolo told news.com.au. “Obviously the results the last four weeks haven’t helped, not winning any games, but me and Toddy are sweet.
“(Playing shorter, more impactful minutes) is still a bit new to me, it’s something I haven’t done before. I just need to get back to doing the little things right again and hopefully if I can do that then hopefully you’ll see more quality in my minutes being out there just playing footy.”
