Well it is about bloody time.
HBO Max is reportedly planning to lumos our streaming lives with talk that a Harry Potter series is in early development.
The Hollywood Reporter cites several sources at the WarnerMedia-backed US streaming service – whose content appears locally on Binge and Foxtel – claiming executives have had conversations with writers about how they could bring J.K. Rowling’s beloved story to the small screen.
It must be said, it sounds as though the project is in extremely early days, with no writers or talent yet attached. Warner Bros, along with Rowling, control rights to Harry Potter material, and given it’s enduring popularity and proven money-making potential it would make sense such an idea would be flagged.

When approached by the publication, Warner Bros said there was “no Harry Potter series in development at the studio or on the streaming platform”. But we can read through the lines there.
The eight Harry Potter films had a decade-long run at the box office from 2001 to 2011, starring beloved trio Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), the franchise raked in a combined $7.7 billion at the box office.
