A four-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after falling eight metres from a second storey window onto concrete in Sydney’s south.
Paramedics from four crews, including a specialist medical team, responded to the incident on George Street at Mortdale, about 2pm.
The four-year-old was first treated for head injuries at the scene before being taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick in a stable condition.
NSW Ambulance Inspector Garren Constable said bystanders and police did a “great job” looking after the child until paramedics arrived.
“Injuries from falls like this have the potential to cause external injuries, but it’s the potential serious internal injuries that cause us the most concern,” he said.
“These kind of accidents can happen in seconds, so it’s important to take extra care at home especially during the school holidays.”
