Just days after a member of the LGBTQIA+ demanded the Golden Gaytime be renamed, the iconic Australian ice cream is facing another challenge.
A new petition, launched just hours ago on Change.org, is calling for the sweet treat to be made vegan.
Created by a man named Dan Moore, the campaign is requesting its maker introduce a vegan alternative.
“Don’t change the name Golden Gaytime, make it vegan,” the post reads.
“It (name) is not offensive to the LGBT+ community.”
It has only gathered about 50 signatures so far but some respondents agree “Gaytime must stay Gaytime” but it “needs to be vegan”.
“Let’s have a vegan Gaytime option,” one punter said.
Another noted: “I’m gay and vegan … I agree with everything this petition is asking for.”

On Wednesday it was revealed an Australian man, known only as Brian Mc, launched the petition online earlier in the month and went to war with ice-cream giant Streets and its parent company Unilever about the ice-cream’s name, which he argued was offensive to the gay community.
The petition has gathered more than 1000 signatures so far.
Mr Mc described the name of the ice cream, which was first released in 1959, as “outdated” and “offensive” and called for the term “gay” to be banished from its title.
Other brands have changed their names in the last year to remove racist connotations. For instance, Redskins became Red Ripper, Chicos became Cheekies and Coon Cheese was renamed Cheer Cheese.
Now Mr Mc is calling for Golden Gaytime to receive the same treatment.
“Under the law they are seen the same, discrimination means being treated unfairly or not as well as others because of a protected characteristic like age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, race or disability,” he said.
A Streets spokesman told NCA NewsWire the Golden Gaytime was released in Australia during 1959 when the word “gay” had not yet been applied to gender preference.
“The origin of the ‘Gaytime’ name was and remains related to having a joyous or happy time and is meant to capture the pleasure that comes with enjoying an ice cream,” they said in a statement.
“The ‘Gaytime’ name is not and never has intended to cause offence and this petition is the first that we have been made aware of.”
Golden Gaytime has a different name in other countries. In New Zealand it is known as a Cookie Crumble.
“Gay and Gaytime no longer mean what it used to. Now gay is either ‘I’m gay’, and not as in happy, or ‘that’s so gay’, which is an insult. But either way this ice cream should be called happytime, “ one respondent to the petition said.
A poll by news.com revealed an overwhelming number of Aussies are against changing the name, labelling the move “ridiculous”.
A whopping 98 per cent voted to keep the renowned name.
Other petitions from members of the LGBTQIA+ community have since popped urging Streets to keep “gay” in the name.
One has already gathered thousands of signatures.
A spokeswoman for Unilever said the consumer goods giant had no plans for a vegan version at this stage but had a fast growing portfolio of dairy free products.
