A 14-year-old has been charged by police after an another teen was allegedly attacked with a stick and glass bottle at a bus stop on Sydney’s northern beaches on Thursday.
Police patrolling Barrenjoey Road at Mona Vale stumbled across the alleged attack on the boy, 16, who was taken to hospital with a head laceration.
It is alleged two 14-year-old boys approached the victim while he was waiting at the bus stop before assaulting him.
One of them struck him with a glass bottle, while the other hit him with a stick, police allege.
The 16-year-old was treated at the scene for a laceration to the head and taken to Northern Beaches Hospital.
The two 14-year-olds were arrested and taken to Manly police station.
One of them was charged with reckless wounding in company and was granted conditional bail to appear before a children’s court on Wednesday, February 17.
The other was released pending further inquiries as investigations into the incident continue.
It comes just days after a shocking brawl was captured on camera in the neighbouring suburb of Newport.
A 17-year-old boy was charged after the footage emerged showing a group allegedly throwing punches at another male at Newport Beach on January 20.
The alleged victim was kicked to the ground and stomped on at a reserve behind the beach.
The 22-year-old victim was treated by ambulance crews before being taken to hospital with minor injuries.
NCA NewsWire is not suggesting the two incidents are linked.
The Newport incident prompted locals to claim public violence was “out of control” on the peninsula.
