Footage has emerged online of the moment two anglers had to suddenly fight off a shark while fishing in shallow water earlier this month.
The two men were fishing in waters around the remote Cocos Keeling Islands, an Australian territory south of Malaysia in the Indian Ocean.

Fly fishing guide Josh Hutchins was capturing footage with cinematographer and documentarian Kane Chenoweth in the clear shallow waters around the island when the incident occurred.
Mr Hutchins wrote that the shark was following a small blue-fin trevally when it came towards him at full speed, swimming straight into and then through his legs.
He almost loses his footing in the video as he tries to defend himself from the shark.

Mr Hutchins used his rod to fend off the shark, poking it into the water in an attempt to keep the shark at bay while yelling at it to “get out of here”.
The shark then switches its focus to the cameraman Mr Chenoweth, charging towards him as he dances away from it.
The shark eventually appears to lose interest and begin swimming away.
“Bloody hell, he was so close to biting me then,” Mr Hutchins said in the footage.

“Yeah I think I will stick with the freshwater stuff after watching this mate,” one commenter said in response to the video, posted to Instagram on Sunday.
“I’ve had the same with a small bull shark,” another said.
“Certainly gets the heart rate pumping.”
