Steve Smith has been awarded the prestigious Allan Border Medal after a stellar 12 months with the bat.
During the voting period, Smith pummelled three ODI centuries and a classy ton during the SCG Test against India.
It’s the third time Smith has been named the Allan Border Medal recipient – only Australian great Ricky Ponting boasts more.
Smith was also chosen as the Men’s ODI Player of the Year, trumping spin bowler Adam Zampa for the accolade.

Meanwhile, Beth Mooney was awarded the Belinda Clark Award after a career-defining 2020, during which she was named Player of the Women’s T20 World Cup back in March.
“We‘ve got some players within the Australian side at the moment who will be remembered for a long time as some of the best we’ve ever produced and to be playing alongside them, let alone being up on a honour roll next to them for winning this award, is a pretty surreal thing,” Mooney said.
Pat Cummins was named Australia’s Test Cricketer of the Year after claiming 21 wickets during the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
After recording a series of high scores against New Zealand in October, Rachael Haynes was named the Women’s ODI Player of the Year.
Mooney and Ashton Agar were also awarded the T20I Players of the Year, each dominating the game’s shortest format with bat and ball respectively.
