Shoppers are taking to social media to brag about getting their hands on a limited-edition Aldi item – and the internet (read: me) is officially very jealous.
A “Hot Cross Bun Gin Liqueur” recently hit the German supermarket’s shelves to celebrate Easter 2021 – but as people have quickly discovered, there are not many bottles around.
As a result, those who have found a bottle of the golden alcoholic drink that is infused with the famous spiced flavour, have taken to rubbing it in.
That’s right, instead of taking their $20 bottle of festive plonk home and drinking it quietly, many are showing off their lucky Aldi finds online.
And some of us can’t cope.

One woman posted a photo in the Aldi Mums Facebook page, writing: “Yes got one! Engadine, NSW.”
Her post quickly attracted hundreds of comments many of which read “jealous” and “jello”.
I feel you guys, I FEEL YOU.
However others took a more savage approach, instead sharing photos of their hauls after snapping up more than one bottle when finding it in-store.
“Asked mum to buy me a bottle … but she has a shopping problem,” one woman wrote in the Australian Gin Appreciation Society Facebook group alongside a photo of four bottles on her bench top.
Another shopper in Wagga shared a photo of their two bottles gloriously lined up at home.
“For $20 a bottle it’s worth a try,” she said.

The posts have bought out a few of my fellow green-eyed monsters who haven’t been able to get their mitts on the gin just yet.
“If only we could find one,” one person commented.
“I’ve been looking but haven’t got my hands on one yet,” another sighed.
“This is so unfair, I’ve looked everywhere,” someone else chipped in.
Not everyone was quite so mean, with one shopper helpfully sharing a snap of a filled aisle, writing: “Spotted.”
For those who have got their hands on the boozy treat, the UK producer Manchester Drinks Company, recommends serving it with ginger ale and a slice of orange for “extra spice”.
