A struggling Greater Western Sydney side has been hit with injuries to three of its stars, including captain Stephen Coniglio.
After making a promising start to kick four of the first five goals in their clash against Melbourne in Canberra, former co-captain Phil Davis was subbed out of the game with an ankle injury early in the second quarter.
The issues deepened for the Giants just minutes later when Coniglio had to be helped from the field by trainers after hurting his right ankle in a tackle.

Coniglio was subsequently also ruled out of taking any further part in the match.
Compounding the Giants’ woes, Matt de Boer left the field in the third quarter with a hamstring injury and will not return.
Medical substitute Nick Shipley replaced Davis for what is his first AFL game in 1066 days and just the fourth game of his career.
Shipley had been a medical substitute in Round 2 against Fremantle but did not take to the field.
GWS entered the clash with Melbourne with a 0-2 record to start the season after losses to St Kilda and the Dockers.
The Giants missed finals last year, finishing 10th on the ladder – one spot behind Melbourne.
