The Rabbitohs finally came to the table on Wednesday with a two-year offer for Adam Reynolds, but the halfback is set to test the market.
The Bunnies held talks with Reynolds’ camp where they put forward a one-year offer with an option in the club’s favour to extend the deal until 2023, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

It was a contract worth $700,000 per year but Reynolds is now likely to head to the market and test his value.
Reynolds wants a three-year deal for security as he heads into the final part of his career.
But the Rabbitohs didn’t want to offer him a lengthy contract and be burned down the track by a potential big payout as they had to do with the retirements of Sam Burgess and Greg Inglis.
The Cowboys are on front-runner for Reynolds’ signature due to the impending retirement of Michale Morgan due to a chronic shoulder injury.
Bunnies coach Wayne Bennett, who has been linked with a move home to re-join the Broncos, implored Souths to re-sign Reynolds.
“When you’ve got an experienced one, I don’t like to let him go,” Bennett told reporters on Wednesday. “I’m not going to be here, it’s not my team next year. I’m not the one who is going to coach it and manage it so it’s the club prerogative.
“It will not derail us. It will not derail him, he is not bitter and twisted about it. He understands.”
The contract saga has been going on for some time with legends incredulous over the treatment of the long-term half.
Even departing coach Wayne Bennett has called for the Rabbitohs to come to the table with an offer.
