The search continues for a Sydneysider who is unknowingly sitting on a $50 million lotto ticket, with officials naming the store where the winning entry was purchased in a bid to find the lucky punter.
Almost four days have passed since The Lott’s $50 million Powerball draw on Thursday and the search has narrowed to Maroubra in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
The NSW ticket, with numbers 18, 30, 16, 29, 6, 33 and 35, was the only division one winner in Powerball draw 1296.
The whopping jackpot is unable to be tracked down because the ticket was not registered to a player card, meaning officials from The Lott cannot contact the buyer.
However, The Lott has revealed the winning entry was bought at CTC (Cigarettes Tobacco Cigars) Eastern, which is located on 730A Anzac Parade, Maroubra.
The store’s owner, John Yu, said he hoped a winner was found for the first division one-winning ticket sold at his store.
“Sadly, it’s not me, but I’m very happy for one of our customers,” he said in a statement. “I hope they discover the news soon.
“We’ve been here for seven years and this is the first division one winning ticket we’ve ever sold.”
Lottery spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer encouraged entrants to check their tickets for the “life-changing” news.
“There is no doubt their life would change in that instant,” she said.
Last year, a total of $470.1 million was won between 14 division one winners in Australia.
Six winners came from Queensland, five from NSW and three from Victoria.
