Round 5 teams, Mason Cox, Collingwood, West Coast team changes

[ad_1]

West Coast has suffered three considerable injury blows ahead of its Friday night battle with Collingwood, with the Pies swinging the axe.

The Eagles have lost Shannon Hurn, Liam Ryan and Jack Petruccelle to injury, which has opened the door for recruit Alex Witherden to play his first game for the club.

Collingwood has dropped tall Mason Cox, replacing him with Darcy Cameron, who will work in tandem with Brodie Grundy to try quell the influence of Eagles star Nic Naitanui.

St Kilda is confident stars Zak Jones and Rowan Marshall will be fit to face Richmond with the pair named in the club’s 22 for Thursday night’s blockbuster.

The pair had been in doubt leading into Wednesday’s team announcement with Jones on light duties and Marshall hurting his plantar fascia against West Coast.

However, Brett Ratten has named an unchanged side with Luke Dunstan and Paul Hunter waiting in the wings if either are unfit to play.

Richmond has axed youngsters Jack Ross and Will Martyn, with the latter making his AFL debut against Port Adelaide in Round 4.

Small forward Daniel Rioli comes into the 22 after being the club’s medical substitute in the last round, while wingman Kamdyn McIntosh returns after his mandatory concussion break.

There is the potential for a debutant with Hugo Ralphsmith and Maurice Rioli Jnr among Richmond’s four emergencies, with the Tigers to officially announce their sub one hour before Thursday’s match.
