One of Australia’s biggest pub and bar operators is offering up what sounds like a dream job — paying people to eat and drink in their venues.
Australian Venue Co (AVC), which owns and operates more than 160 pubs and bars, is looking for mystery shoppers to join its Secret Sipper team across the country.
Secret Sippers will be required masquerading as ordinary customers and attend at least 12 venues a year.
The job’s responsibilities include travelling to assigned pubs and bars throughout the year, remaining discreet and impartial and interacting with venue employees to gauge customer service. Part of the role also includes inspecting the venue environment to detect possible concerns and areas for improvement and purchasing random and specific items to assess product quality.
After the visit, people must complete a survey and written report detailing the experience in a timely manner.
Successful applicants will get a $30 meal allowance, plus $200 each time they review. But payment isn’t dished up front — people must retaining receipts as proof of purchase for later reimbursement.
A passion for hospitality, good communication and memorisation skills are a must for a Secret Sipper and AVC is looking to build up a team of food and drink lovers as part of the program.
Positions are being advertised in The Rocks, NSW, Highgate, WA, south Brisbane, QLD, south Melbourne, Victoria, Adelaide and Darwin.
Those looking to apply must also have to a personal ABN, their own transport, be attentive to detail and have the ability to conduct duties discreetly and impartially.
