Reward offered to find driver that hit and killed teen

NSW Police have revealed a huge reward to help find the person who hit and killed a teenage boy on his birthday before leaving him to die alone and on the side of a dark country road.

It was Braydon Worldon’s 15th birthday on the day he was killed.

He was on his way to visit his great-grandmother, only hours later his body was spotted by a passing motorist on River Road, Wantabadgery, about 40km east of Wagga Wagga, on December 19, 2018.

The driver who found him stopped to help but quickly realised the boy was dead before calling emergency services.

More than two years on, the case continues to baffle police.

On Thursday NSW Police revealed a $250,000 reward for information into Braydon’s death in the hope fresh clues could help them identify the person who hit him.

Strike force detectives confirmed Braydon was last seen alive the day before his body was found.

Investigations suggest he was hit by a heavy vehicle fitted with a bull bar. He was on foot at the time, walking toward his great-grandmother’s house.

Detectives believe someone in the state’s Riverina area must know something.

Detective Inspector Adrian Telfer said police were leaving no stone unturned.

“We believe someone in the community might hold that vital information which will help us provide answers to Braydon’s mother, Crystal, and the rest of his family,” he said.

“Any information that can be provided to the public is invaluable.”

Police Minister David Elliott said his family deserve some answers.

“This young man had a life ahead of him that was tragically cut short,” he said.

“I hope that the NSW Government’s $250,000 reward could be the incentive that is needed to encourage people to come forward and report to police to help find answers for Braydon’s family.”

At the time of his death, his distraught mother Crystal described her son as kind and demanded to know the truth.

The teenager wasn’t carrying his mobile phone or any cash at the time of his death, and it was out of character for him to wander off alone, according to his family.

They believed he may have been on his way to visit his great-grandmother who lived nearby.

An inquest is under way into the teenager’s death.
