How Amazing Race Australia winners Brendon and Jackson will spend the $250k

Amazing Race Australia’s resident cowboys, NSW farmers Brendon Crawley and Jackson Dening, were first to cross the finish line during last night’s season finale, taking out the massive $250,000 cash prize.

But the unassuming duo have humble ambitions for their sudden windfall.

“We said from the start, this is for our family, our kids, to set ourselves up. We want to look to buying property, that’s our biggest goal at the moment,” Brendon told news.com.au today.

“We’re pretty simple fellas, so if we can get a property, that’d be huge for us. We have talked about giving back to farmers, maybe trying to hold an auction and donating money back to farmers …”

A noble goal, but now they’re a quarter of a million dollars richer, they must have some sort of a splurge in mind alongside these investments and charity pursuits? Only half joking, the farmer friends said their children would be getting “Magnum ice creams”.

It was something of a bumpy season for the friends of 10 years, who frequently finished legs towards the back of the pack. They said their lowest point came when they finished dead last during a mid-season Adelaide pit-stop.

“That was our turning point. We were both ready to go, to be honest – missing home, missing the kids. When we got salvaged we thought, it’s time to knuckle down and redeem ourselves,” said Jackson.

And they had no regrets about this season of Amazing Race being limited to Australia due to the coronavirus pandemic. “God no! We got lost enough in Australia, let alone going overseas,” Brendon said.

And as for the hardest thing about Amazing Race? Forget the daredevil stunts and extreme eating challenges – these two insist being away from their kids was the toughest thing they had to endure.

“Some challenges were hard, but that was probably the hardest thing we had to face,” Jackson said.
