Two young guns have blown North Melbourne away as Hawthorn pummelled the Kangaroos in a 17.18 (120) to (12.9 (81) result at Arden Street Oval.
While the game is a pre-season fixture between the 15th and 17th ranked teams from last year and the results will have to be taken with a grain of salt, Hawthorn appear to have unleashed a pair of unexpected talents on the league.

Before the Hawks coach Alastair Clarkson was honest about the season with so many changes, admitting they “unlikely to be challenging for silverware” but were looking to the future with some promising youngsters.
The first term was all about Tyler Brockman, the 46th pick from 2020 Draft.
The 18-year-old was on fire in his first game for the club with four-time premiership coach Alastair Clarkson saying he was “in the mix” for a round one debut, despite being selected so late in the draft.
Scoring three first quarter goals will definitely help his chances.
The Fox Footy commentators were equally surprised when he snatched a big mark with 37 second left in the first quarter as the Hawks completed a six goal opening term.
“This man has really turned it on in the first quarter,” Anthony Hudson said.
“Couldn’t hope for a better start Tyler Brockman. You don’t expect Pick 46 to be ready to go like this at the start of the next season.”
“Pencil him in for round one,” Hawks legend Jason Dunstall agreed.
But while after his first quarter explosion, 20-year-old third year rookie Jacob Koschitzke took over.
While he had 1.1 for the first quarter, Koschitzke went nuts across the second and third quarters.
Koschitzke was drafted in the third round of the 2018 Draft but has yet to play a senior AFL game, having joined Hawthorn as a defender but being moved up into the forwards.
He took control either side of half time, with four straight goals, showing the move has paid off.
He finished with six goals for the game.
Dunstall said: “He’s going to make it really difficult not to pick him in round one the way he’s played today.”
After the game, David King said “there’ll be kickback if he doesn’t get selected,” with Dunstall adding “I’ll be the one kicking back”.
At halftime, new Hawks skipper Ben McEvoy had plenty of praise for Koschitzke, the cousin of former St Kilda star Justin Koschitzke.
“I’m really loving the way he’s going. He had a great summer, he’s just works really hard like his cousin always used to and he just attacks the contest so I really love that from the young kid.”
Post-match, Koschitzke was hoping to play in round one.
“We’ll see what happens,” he said. “I’m just happy to play my position and get a result for the boys.
“I’m a bit of a thinker, I’d like to know everything pretty early so I might go knock on his (Clarkson’s) door and see how it goes.”
With six goals, you may have already been knocking loud and clear.
