Ford’s Ranger ute is ready to get to work.
The Blue Oval has revealed its new Tradie special edition, adding extra value to its popular dual-cab Ranger ute.
Based on the four-wheel drive XL dual cab variant, the Tradie edition costs $47,990 drive-away, which is a saving of more than $4000 off the recommended price.
Power comes from Ford’s proven 3.2-litre turbocharged diesel unit making 147kW and 470Nm and is matched to a six-speed automatic transmission.
It has more than one tonne payload and a braked towing capacity of 3500kg.
Ford has boosted the value of the Tradie by adding extra equipment including a bedliner to protect the tray, a factory fitted towbar, LED light bar, nudge bar and 16-inch black alloy wheels.
The Ranger is covered by a five-year/unlimited km warranty and the first four services are capped at $299 each.
Ford has boosted the Tradie’s servicing credential with a free loan car and membership to your local state-based auto club’s roadside assistance program.
There is plenty to like for tech-savvy buyers with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto included. Ford Pass tech allows for owners to lock, unlock, remote start and turn on the aircon or heating remotely via the Ford Pass app.
Ford’s Ranger ute has been the second best selling vehicle in the country behind the Toyota HiLux for the past several years.
And special editions have proved to be a key part to that success with the brand expanding its range of limited-run variants, including high-spec Wildtrak X and FX4 versions.
Special editions help keep the ageing Ranger fresh as it faces stiff competition from a reworked HiLux and the excellent Isuzu D-Max and Mazda BT-50 twins, which all arrived in 2020.
Full-sized US trucks from Ram and Chevrolet continue to prove popular and are eating into the top-end of the ute market.
