Cheap flights between Sydney and Melbourne announced for March

[ad_1]

Airline tickets between Sydney and Melbourne are going for less than $50 as flight companies hope to capitalise on open interstate borders.

The regional airline Rex has announced it will launch a service between the two cities in March and is offering one-way economy seats for $49 to mark the occasion.

“Most taxi rides to the airport cost more than $49. This is a wonderful opportunity for travellers to get between Australia’s two biggest cities on a whim to get over the COVID blues,” Rex deputy chairman John Sharp said in a statement.

“Importantly, all fares during this pandemic are covered by Rex’s COVID refund policy, which guarantees full refunds for any flights affected by COVID, even if Rex’s flights are not affected.”

That fare includes check-in luggage and refreshments, and passengers who travel on March 1 will get a gift pack as well.

Business class seats on the same route will go for $199. Travellers must book before the end of February to get either deal.

Other airlines are offering cheap deals as well. Jetstar has March flights from Sydney to Melbourne for as low as $39 for one-way tickets.

Virgin Australia also has flights between the two cities for $49.

People coming into NSW from Victoria have to complete a self-declaration from. People who aren’t NSW residents are currently not allowed to enter the state from Victoria if they’ve been at a hot spot.

As for entering Victoria from NSW, that should be fine at the moment. All of NSW, and most other states, have been designated by the Victorian government as green zones, which means travellers are allowed to enter provided they have applied for a permit.
